Welcome to Squirrels Class. Our teacher is Mrs Manders-Jones.
This term, Squirrels Class has been immersed in the fascinating world of weather! Our young scientists have been measuring temperature and rainfall daily, which has not only sparked their curiosity but also enhanced their observational skills. Through the use of thermometers and rain gauges, the children have recorded their findings, learning to identify patterns over time.
In Maths, Squirrels Class has tackled essential concepts such as place value, addition, and subtraction through engaging practical activities. These hands-on experiences have not only made learning enjoyable but have also helped the children consolidate their understanding of these foundational skills.
This term, we have focused on developing fine motor skills through a variety of creative learning opportunities. From practising handwriting and letter formation to crafting clay models, our children have engaged in activities that enhance their dexterity and coordination.
Squirrels Class has embarked on an exciting geographical journey, learning about the seven continents and five oceans. Through songs, jigsaw puzzles, and animal identification, children have developed a sense of global citizenship and environmental awareness.
Our exploration of birds has been a highlight this term, as the children have delved into their features, habitats, and identification. Through drawing and painting, children have expressed their creativity while reinforcing their understanding of the natural world.
In History, Squirrels Class has been learning about the fascinating evolution of communication. From carrier pigeons to Morse code and telegrams, the children have explored how messages were sent in the past, gaining insight into historical context and technological advancements.
Through engaging activities, such as role-playing and creating their own messages, children have developed historical inquiry skills.
We concluded this fantastic term of learning with our wonderful Christmas play, ‘Angel Express’. The children dedicated many afternoons to rehearsing, showcasing their outstanding singing and acting skills for their families.
This performance not only highlighted the hard work and creativity of our children but also fostered confidence and teamwork.
